What's in Your Library Bag Wednesday?

What's in Your Library Bag Wednesday is here again. Can I just say that I am behind??? I don't know what I've been doing other than reading, but I haven't been reading all that much. I am in the middle of reading Such a Pretty Fat by Jennifer Lancaster. I think I put a book trailer on the blog about her book a week ago. Anyway, it's a really funny book about the author's weight loss journey. The way she laughs at herself and comes up with excuses to eat what she wants and then more excuses to not go to the gym, I think we can all relate to. I am not kidding when I say it is at times just laugh out loud funny. That said, it is also not a book that makes me want to sit in one sitting and finish it.
So, I've found myself looking for another book to read at the same time. I picked up Water for Elephants; and I checked out a favorite from a series I've read before; today, I took home a totally new author whose book includes time travel and Scottish Highlanders, two all time favorite topics of mine to read about. What I'm trying to say is, I'm kinda in a slump. I can't seem to settle on anything and finish it. Does this ever happen to you? It just drives me crazy when it happens to me!! I want to devour a book and be tired for a week because I finished a really awesome title!! I'm going to try this new one and see where it takes me...What do you do to get out of a reading slump?
The other day a good friend of mine asked me for some reading suggestions. Knowing that I love just about anything romance, she asked for some of my favorites. What fun!! I strolled the library grabbing titles here and there of some of my all time favorite romances. They're just like old friends. One particular author I grabbed for her was Julie Garwood. Traditionally, Julie Garwood has been an historical romance author writing the kinds of strong heroines that I love! In her older stories, the females leads were almost always paired with a big, strong man who thought he needed to control her and make all of her decisions for her. The story that followed was always one in which the female asserted that she could make her own decisions and maybe he could benefit from some of her decision making too!! It was all sass and fun and in the end they were madly in love and working together. A couple favorite titles of mine are The Gift and The Secret.
Now, the Julie Garwood of today writes a little differently. Following the trends in reading of the times, she now writes Mystery Romance titles. I have enjoyed many of these also, but my favorites remain her historical romance.
If you are currently in a reading slump, like I am, maybe trying something a little off the beaten path will cure you...Give Julie Garwood a try.
